The property

Set on a leafy estate in the heart of Cornwall lies this beautifully presented holiday cottage, Goose Cottage.

Surrounded in picture-perfect countryside and just a couple of miles from the coast, this fabulous abode makes a lovely escape for a small family, close friends, or as the idyllic romantic retreat for a couple. Nestled at the end of the estate, find peace, quiet and tranquility as you slip in your own bubble for your mini break.

Step inside to find a light, airy and stylish open-plan living space, fit with quality furnishings and a modern, country feel in decor.

Throw open the patio doors to welcome the fresh air in and take in the vista across the valley, a perfect area for relaxing in the warmer months while your four-legged friends stretch their legs.

Indulge in a glass of local Cornish bubbly you can pick up from your visits to the local vineyards (Trevibban Mill Blanc de Blancs or Camel Valley Pinot Noir anyone?) and unwind together.

Inside, the sociable space allows whoever is donning the apron as chef to feel included at all times as you potter around the downstairs area before settling down to tuck into a delicious dinner.

Afterwards, put your feet up, cosy up under a blanket on the sofa and seek a moment of solitude with a great book.

Upstairs, catch your rest in one of two neat bedrooms, a double or a twin, and when you wake get ready in style in the sleek bathroom.

The privacy of Goose Cottage with its outlook onto the rolling fields beyond across the valley, make it the perfect spot to escape the everyday. For an adventure-filled stay, why not book onto a coasteering trip from Port Quin or take the 20 minute drive to Polzeath for a surfing lesson in some of the best waves in Cornwall?

If seeking more adrenalin, Camel Ski School in Rock offers wakeboarding and water-skiing as the best (and speediest) way to experience the Camel Estuary up close.

A more laid back pace with your four legged friend can be found by pottering around the local Delabole quarry just down the road which offers views over where the famous slate comes from or take to the coastal path at Port Isaac, Tintagel or Bossiney, all within a short drive.

Those keen on hiking will enjoy the stretch between Port Quin and Port Isaac and you may even be rewarded with a dolphin sighting out in the estuary.

To recharge after a busy morning out, foodies will appreciate Nathan Outlaw’s New Road and Fish Kitchen nearby or make a day out of it by hopping across the water to Padstow on the foot ferry from Rock to eat at Rick Steins and Paul Ainsworth’s restaurants; a good excuse for retail therapy and for those looking for a unique treat, enjoy a speedboat trip or Sealife Safari out from the famous harbour.

If cooking in the evening sounds like a chore, either pick up fish and chips in the village of Delabole or head into Wadebridge to grab a delicious takeaway from the delicious options in the Saltbox, SpiceSea, Woody’s Pizza and Craftworks, to enjoy back on your sofa at your home-from-home. Whatever the weather, Goose Cottage is an inviting home for a trip to beautiful Cornwall.

Please note: For larger groups or special occasions of up to 24 guests, Goose Cottage can be booked alongside up to three other properties on this country estate for the ultimate break with privacy, convenience and fun for all: The Farmhouse - property ref 1114331 sleeping 8 guests The Old Bakehouse - property ref 1114291 sleeping 6 guests Courtyard Cottage - property ref 1114293 sleeping 6 guests

About the location

DELABOLE

Tintagel 3.5 miles; Camelford 3.4 miles; Port Isaac 5.3 miles.

At one time the producer of the world’s best quality building and ornamental slate, this now sleepy village is just 2.5 miles from the high cliffs and dramatic scenery of the north Cornish coastline. Perfectly placed for walking the South West coastal path, exploring the high places of nearby Bodmin Moor, or for lazing on the beach at nearby Trebarwith Strand, it’s a well-placed holiday base. The peaceful harbour village of Port Isaac and the town of Tintagel, with its tourist attractions and King Arthur’s legendary castle, are both a short drive, while the stunning surfing beach at Polzeath is a mere nine miles away. Slaughtersbridge, where King Arthur reputedly fought his last battle, is five minutes away and a drive north along the coast takes in the beautiful cove at Crackington Haven. An area away from the main tourist crowds, but very central to a vast array of places and activities. Delabole Quarry itself is just down the road and is an interesting tourist attraction with stunning views. It is the gateway to great countryside walks.
