“We were extremely disappointed with this property.”

The price for the week was on offer so we paid nearly half price plus additional fee for two dogs, if we'd paid the full price I would be asking for a refund. It is a spacious and light property, downstairs is comfortable and having an enclosed garden with dogs is a real bonus. However, it was not very clean, the downstairs windows were cloudy inside the double glazing and the windowsills covered in dirt. The plastic cover on the dining table was sticky and curled up at the edges. Although ...

However, it was not very clean, the downstairs windows were cloudy inside the double glazing and the windowsills covered in dirt. The plastic cover on the dining table was sticky and curled up at the edges. Although big enough to seat 5 or more you can't get the chairs around it as it is pushed into the corner and very close to the sofa. The cutlery is very cheap and nasty and one cupboard had a load of out of date food in it. The freezer drawers were dirty. The cupboard under the stairs was a mess. The bedrooms were all very nice, comfortable beds and nice furniture. The carpet however was a hard scratchy material and there are a number of stains on it. It was not nice to walk on with bare feet. The main bathroom was large and towels provided were lovely. There needs to be a warning about the shower, it has a very high step up into it and nothing to hold onto when getting out, this would definitely not be easy for someone with mobility issues or an elderly person, I am not surprised there are no photos of the shower as it has a lot of black mould around the door and bottom of tiles. The shower in the top bedroom is over a bath so not able to use this as an alternative. The bedroom balcony is not lovely as described, it has two dirty tatty garden chairs on it and the decking is dirty. The cottage is well positioned, near shops and a short walk to the beach. It is in a quiet area and has nice lawns to the front.

“Loved everything about it.”

“Lowena Manor 4 is a lovely little terraced house.”

Living space and garden wise I am not sure that I would want to be a party of 6 staying there. The garden furniture only has 2 seats. There is no outside tap, which for a house that offers the ability for pets seems like a big miss. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay

“Great location for coastal walking, lovely and clean and would highly recommend and return for another holiday however the main bathroom requires some maintenance.”

The bath tap moves and the shower requires sealing around the edges. On arrival there was a car parked in the allocated bay outside the house, we called number given and left a message for advice on but no one returned our call.

“Lovely location, brilliant for the beach, and very nice house with comfy beds but scruffy ‘garden’ and damp patch over ceiling at back door and really annoying not to have a separate tumble dryer when it’s raining.”

The washer/ dryer just warms things up a bit. Mostly very clean , nice bed linen , but noticed some dust/ cobwebs, snd grot under the shower plug. Overall a lovely stay. Have added the gripes since you have asked!

“The property needs a good deep clean.”

Many surfaces were grubby and the furnishings are very tired. Also, very disappointed that there was no sun umbrella for the garden. This is essential for this type of property. On the plus side the bed was comfortable with good quality linen.

“We enjoyed a very relaxing break at Lowenna Manor 4.”

Easy access for parking, lovely walk to the beach and ferry. Really comfy and spacious accommodation. The kitchen could do with some tweaks-smoke alarm went off with every use of the toaster and only baking tray had something melted onto it making it unusable. Someone from the nextdoor rental property parked in our parking space outside the property all week so we had to use the space further away.

“We had a fab holiday in the house - it was perfect for our family of 5, with plenty of space and a well equipped kitchen.”

A great location for Rock, with an excellent cafe across the road. However, the garden furniture was terrible and the lack of BBQ also means it’s not possible to make the most of the outdoor space during a summer holiday.

“We had a thoroughly enjoyable two weeks in Lowenna Manor.”

It was disappointing not to have been told in advance that we didn’t have use of the shed, even though we had asked about it beforehand. The crockery seriously needs updating, but our stay was very comfortable with a great bed, and the house was lovely and warm - a real plus in bad weather! We would stay again.

We had a lovely week in Lowenna 4 Rock- just a couple of very small details that would have made it even better- the outside table and chairs had seen better days and not that comfortable- the kitchen could do with some new mugs and the garden would benefit from a washing line - all small inexpensive things would make a big difference - otherwise we would highly recommend this cottage- it’s in a brilliant position in Rock and you can easily explore the area on foot - you are near local shops- pubs and the ferry to Padstow

The property

Lowenna Manor 4 occupies a prime position in the centre of Rock village on the North Cornwall coast, with great amenities all within walking distance.

This comfortably furnished 3-storey property has a terrace and secure private garden with parking at the rear for two cars.

There is ample room for a family of 5 in 3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms.

An outside store has space for any sporting equipment, surfboards, wetsuits etc.

There are wonderful walks near the property without having to cross any roads along the footpaths of St Enodoc golf course and onto Rock beach or Daymer Bay. The first floor has the benefit of a king size bedroom with doors out onto a lovely balcony.

There is a bathroom and an additional single room across the landing, ideal for a young child.

The second floor bedroom and ensuite bathroom is accessed from an open staircase, so is more suited to older children, grandparents or friends.

Downstairs the ground floor is open plan and the lounge/diner has a wonderful light, bright feel with French windows onto the garden.

Children can roam feely inside and out without the possibility of escaping from the garden!

A useful terrace with garden furniture is the perfect setting for family meals on balmy days.There are plenty of local shops for groceries along the Rock road, including a baker, butcher, deli and a fishmonger.

Guests can also pop down to the nearby Porthilly Farm to buy oysters and mussels freshly harvested from the Camel estuary.

An extremely convenient restaurant lies almost opposite Lowenna Manor, and many more options for eating out can be found a little further down the Rock road.

With so many water-sports on offer, from sailing to surfing, windsurfing to waterskiing, it would be hard for anyone to get bored in Rock and nearby Polzeath.

If you do fancy a change of scenery though, families can spend a day on the other side of the estuary by taking the little ferry over to the vibrant harbour side of Padstow.

The town has plenty of opportunities for shoppers, gourmets and children, while thrill seekers can take advantage of a speedboat ride or a more leisurely cruise aboard the Jubilee Queen. Lowenna Manor is a conversion into terraced houses of a former manor house in the center of Rock. Set within its own grounds each house has their own gardens but benefit from the large open spaces beyond and around that are communal to all the properties. With footpaths to two sides, one leading to the Golf course and onto Rock beach the ferry, and further to Brea Hill and Daymer Bay, the other going to the Newsagent, Bakery, Butcher, Fish monger and shops, it is set in a location that needs very little car travel around the village. Perfect to switch off from the constant pressure of being car bound!

Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel opposite the famous harbour town of Padstow which is easily reached by a regular ferry service.
