The property

St Samson is an inviting, 400-year-old fisherman's cottage quietly tucked away in Dolphin Street, just yards from the harbour.

Gorgeous to look at, with original slate roof, white washed walls and pretty sky blue window frames and doors, this self-catering holiday cottage can sleep up to four guests in two bedrooms with one bathroom.

St Samson is an ideal bolthole for a family holiday in this picturesque village with shops, cafes, galleries, restaurants and stunning scenery.

The cottage has an allocated parking space for one vehicle at the top of Church Hill, linen and towels are provided and one pet is also welcome.

This petite cottage is laid out over three floors and the ground floor is all one open-plan space, a kitchen/dining/seating area, with wonderful, exposed beams.

The first floor has a sitting room, double bedroom and a bright, cheerful bathroom with a shower.

The second bedroom has no door and is up a few steps, under the eaves where the single beds are snugly placed together; great fun for young children!

Port Isaac has something for everyone; wonderful coastal footpaths to discover, a vibrant and fascinating working fishing harbour, just watching the fishermen preparing to go to sea or landing their catch is a fascinating way to while away the days, children will be happy on the beach or taking a fishing net down to the rock pools.

After busy days in the fresh Cornish air, the many diverse places to eat out will please both, young or old, from fish and chips on the beach to fine dining restaurants.

On Friday nights in the summer, pick up a pint or a drink from the pub and join the locals on the Platt to listen to the Fisherman's Friends singing their sea shanties.

Ground floor: Open plan kitchen/dining/sofa seating area. First floor: Sitting room. Bathroom/shower/WC. Bedroom 1: Double bed. Steps up to: Bedroom 2: Twin Bedroom (please note this room does not have a bedroom door). One pet welcome by arrangement.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

PORT ISAAC

Polzeath 6.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. There is ample parking at the top of the village and the village is a popular tourist destination with plenty of attractions including the dramatic Doyden Castle, the beautiful Lundy Bay and the famous Doc Martin's clinic. There are also plenty of pubs, restaurants, and shops in the village. Just a short drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike.
