“Lovely stay in our favourite part of the world, cut slightly short thanks to Storm Ciaran.”

Caerhayes was spacious and well equipped, had nearly everything we needed. Location was perfect, 5 min drive down to rock quarry car park or a short walk down to Porthilly beach. Would definitely book Caerhayes again.

“We love this property, like home from home and very well equipped Just a very small issue in dinning area , could do with a portable heater in there , when the evenings get colder , not the case this time as we had perfect weather .”

In the past quite cool in there , storage heaters are fitted but never been able to work them this is a small issue Every thing perfect heras to next yea

“A great holiday home, only let down by the poor king size bed mattress which we think needs replacing as we rolled into each other constantly on the first night.”

We then used the twin bedded room and put the two beds together. When moving the bed next to the wall to make a superking you could see that housekeeping had missed this area and the paint on the skirting is discoloured. Additionally the tiles in the main bathroom had been re grouted, but unfortunately the grout is breaking up and digging in to your feet. Overall a really good holiday home that we can see is cared for, loved and looked after

“Super accommodation ,perfect garden for us and the dog.”

We have stayed in Rock a lot and this rates as one of the best.it’s well established and equipped and a good location for local amenities. The only suggestion I have is that bed linens are included as that would M make it even better..we would definitely re-book.

Property was in an idle location, it’s in the area we normally stay in, house itself was very comfortable everything you would need in a property it was a home from home very modern kitchen and appliances, lots of space great having a shed to keep garden chairs clean everything in property has been well thought through Due to personal reasons we had to leave on the 9th May but we enjoyed our stay and would definitely choose this property again

“We have been renting properties in Rock for 9 years now, this was up there as one of the best.”

The owners have thought of everything you might need, personally I like a clock in the bedroom, I have always taken one but no need to here. The quality of the furniture means comfort too. This visit we were both blessed with colds so we didn't go out much so just personnel preference a larger TV would have been a good addition. 10/10 otherwise, perfect, lovely position quiet and close to the shops. Would certainly book again next year.

“The cleanliness was superb and the bungalow very well kitted out, plenty of cutlery and china.”

The two chairs in the sitting room with footstools are really, really comfortable. The bungalow is situated in an ideal spot, close to the shops but in a very quiet spot. We have booked again for next year.

“The bungalow is well equipped and spacious providing for two families.”

The rear garden is secure for a dog. To access Rock Beach and the ferry we used the car and the beach public car park. Lengths of the road have no footpaths. We would use this property again on visits to north Cornwall.

“We love coming to carehayes we have no worries at all My concerns are your cleaners , it’s a little thing but if people are paying £30 I would expect it to be perfect .”

On our arrival we had to polish dinning chairs they hadn’t been cleaned for weeks it’s only a slight problem but I think you should be aware of that , it may have not been the cleaners, could have people who were in before us , who did the cleaning them selves But really it’s not put us off coming , hopefully we can get same weeks next year Thank you regards carol Walker My

“We've stayed with John Bray for many years, but were surprised by how dirty the property was.”

After dismissively pointing out that it was 'one of their cheaper properties anyway' John Bray organised a second clean that somewhat rectified the issue, although we still had to do some cleaning ourselves. Reading through the 2021 reviews it seems that many John Bray properties had an issue with cleaning during the period. However, just because 2021 was a 'sellers market' it wasn't an excuse for John Bray staff to treat customers in a dismissive manner. Happily (this review was written 11 months after the stay) they now seem to have sorted their act out.

“We had a wonderful week in Caerhayes.”

We had amazing weather too. The property was so very well equipped and we felt at home straight away. Comfortable living space and a lovely outside area. We enjoyed all the local beaches, Rock, Polzeath and Daymer Bay. We really hope to return to Rock again next year.

The property

Caerhayes is a good sized, spacious holiday bungalow situated in a quiet residential area in Rock, within easy walking distance of the shops and footpath to peaceful Porthilly cove.

The rear lawned garden is enclosed with an attractive decked and separate patio area, a quiet, sheltered niche from which to enjoy the Sunday papers or your morning tea.

There is ample off road parking, with a further lawned area to the front.

Caerhayes can accommodate 6 guests in 4 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms, making this a good size self-catering holiday let for an extended family.The bungalow has 1 king size bedroom with en-suite, 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom and a further bedroom with bunk beds.

The bright, homely kitchen/dining room benefits from lots of light and has a door to the rear garden, ideal for taking a picnic outside on sunny days or balmy evenings.Trelyn is tucked away behind the hustle and bustle of the Rock road but the many local shops and the Rock Bakery are a gentle amble away.

The footpath down to St Michaels church and Porthilly cove should take no more than 10 minutes and the waters are usually calm and shallow therefore ideal for the very old or young.

Shell seekers could spot cockles on a low tide and bird watchers should follow the river up towards Gentle Jane to spot a variety of seabirds. Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel opposite the famous harbour town of Padstow which is easily reached by a regular ferry service. The summer home of royalty and celebrities offering top class restaurants and quality shops, the real draw is the array of watersports including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling. Continuing on a sporting theme, the golf course at nearby St Enodoc is considered to be one of the best in the country.
